EXEDY GETS INTO SUPERCARS AT THE SYDNEY 500
EXEDY is geared up and ready for our first foray into the world of Supercars at next weekend’s Sydney 500, the grand final Supercar round of the year, at the challenging Sydney Olympic Park street circuit.
We have joined forces with the 2016 Dunlop Supercar Series leader, Garry Jacobson for this exciting event, which will see the EXEDY Racing Clutch logo on the sides of Garry’s Prodrive Racing Australia Falcon FG-X.
The two Dunlop Supercar Series races to be held on Saturday December 3 and Sunday December 4 will be broadcast on the Ten Network and Foxsports. We will be sharing action images and news from the track via our social media channels throughout the event, so be sure to check in over the weekend of December 3 and 4.
So what can we tell you about our newest brand ambassador?
Garry Jacobson is 24 years of age and comes from the rural city of Shepparton in Victoria.
He started racing karts when he was nine years old and won several championships before making his move into Aussie Racing Cars at just 16. He then progressed to Formula Ford highlighted by a top three Championship result in 2012. He made his Dunlop Supercar Series debut in 2013 and gained a 6th place championship result last year.
This brought Garry to the attention of Supercar Championship winning team Prodrive Racing Australia and the success of this combination been nothing short of extraordinary. Five race wins, four pole positions and numerous new qualifying and racing lap records with one round to go. Garry has also won international GT races in his career, winning his class at the 12 Hours of Zandvoort (Holland) and doing the same at the Silverstone 24 Hour (UK) last year.
There is no doubt that this guy is the real deal and that is why we have chosen to partner with him in what is going to be the most important race weekend of his career, as he chases his maiden Supercar title with EXEDY Racing Clutch literally by his side!
Here’s to hoping that our ‘EXEDY - Number 1 in Clutch’ slogan will be replicated with Garry earning the coveted number one champion’s plate after the Sydney 500.
Garry heads to the seventh and final 2016 Dunlop Supercars Series round at Sydney Olympic Park next weekend with a 166 point lead ahead of his Prodrive Racing Australia team mate, Jack LeBrocq and with a 300 point buffer to third placed Paul Dumbrell.
